Like it or not but Nascar has been one of the most successful of all the varied forms of motorsport. In terms of spectator numbers it reigns supreme. Whilst the idea of a current Nascar racer being anything like a "stock" car is laughable it was not always thus, in the beginning on the beach at Daytona the cars were tuned factory products and right up to the mid 70's the racers were using the factory unibody/chassis with the factory axles and suspension components.
